Should the UK Supreme Court be elected in the future and prior to?
No. In the UK, we dont elect professionals following public vote. Doctors are not elected. Dentist are not elected. Solicitors are not elected. Professionals are appointed and promoted to their positions based on their qualifications, merit and competence. Supreme court judges are appointed based on using a complex committee and advisory process. By contrast politicians are elected and legislate on the affairs of state. These two State institutions - political and judicial - are entirely separate and independent of each other. The next time you hear the phrase unelected judges than respond with the phrase unelected dentists. Both are professionals.
